🤫The Truth No English Teacher Tells You

Hey… sono qui a dirti che tutti i corsi di inglese che fai vanno bene?

Really?

Allora perché ti senti ancora bloccata?

Then why do you still feel blocked when it’s time to speak English?

Yes, you.

👉 Because here’s the truth: learning English is not only about grammar or vocabulary.

The real key is you. The way you think, feel, and use your voice.

That’s why I talk about speaking personalities (or speaking types).

These are not random ideas: they are inspired by the work of Carl Jung on archetypes and developed further by researchers in communication styles and second language acquisition (see Littlewood, 1984; Dörnyei, 2005).

We all have a “speaking personality.”

It’s the way our:

  • psychology

  • habits

  • emotions

...shape how we use language.

Some people love to dive into a conversation, others prefer to analyse carefully before speaking. These differences matter.

They explain why the same English course works well for one student, but feels frustrating for another.

Why Speaking Types Matter

Most English teachers don’t talk about speaking types. Why?

  • Because it’s easier to teach grammar rules than mindset.

  • Because it requires a deeper understanding of psychology.

  • Because it makes learning personal and many teachers still prefer to reuse materials rather than creating a personal learning experience

Speaking types can help you:

  • understand your natural communication style

  • see your blocks and turn them into strengths

  • create routines that fit your personality

  • build confidence in real conversations

  • enjoy learning instead of feeling stressed

The 10 Speaking Types

In my work, I usually focus on four main speaking types because they are the most common.

But here’s the truth: there are six more, and they are just as important.

Knowing them can make the difference between feeling stuck and finally moving forward with your English.

🌻 The Adventurer

Always ready to try and jump into conversation. Learns by doing. Needs support to slow down and reflect.

🌙 The Thinker

Logical, careful, loves rules. Needs encouragement to let go of perfection and just speak.

🔥 The Leader

Confident, direct, takes space in conversations. Inspires others, but must practise listening and patience.

The Connector

Empathetic, warm, loves group interaction. Learns best with people. Needs help focusing on personal goals too.

🪵 The Doer

Practical, consistent, learns through daily action. Needs mindset work to avoid rigidity.

The Dreamer

Imaginative, intuitive, learns with creativity. Needs structure and accountability.

🪞 The Mirror

Observant, copies other people’s style easily. Learns quickly from models, but risks losing their own voice.

🎨 The Artist

Expressive, emotional, thrives with stories and creativity. Needs balance between beauty and accuracy.

🍃 The Sage

Reflective, slow learner but with deep memory. Needs time, but builds lifelong mastery.

📖 The Scholar

Curious, intellectual, loves learning methods and knowledge. Needs to remember to practise and not stay only in theory.

Before vs After: What Changes

Imagine this:

Before knowing your type: You feel guilty because you can’t memorise long vocabulary lists like other students. You believe something is wrong with you.

After discovering your type: You realise you are a Connector. You learn faster by speaking with friends, journalling with a partner, or joining group lessons. Suddenly, English feels easier.

Another example:

Before knowing your type: You avoid speaking because you want every sentence to be perfect.

After discovering your type: You understand you are a Thinker. You learn to accept small mistakes, slow down, and use your strong logic to build powerful arguments.

The Deeper Purpose

In my experience, learning a language changes completely when you understand your type.

Why?

Because you finally see what blocks you, what motivates you, and why you are learning in the first place.

Language is not just grammar. It’s a mirror of who you are.

When you discover your speaking type, English is no longer a fight with irregular verbs.

It becomes a path to express your ideas, connect with others, and understand yourself.

Why This Matters for You

If grammar exercises and vocabulary lists were enough, you would already feel fluent.

But if you still hesitate, it means you need a different approach.

✨ The truth is: when you know your speaking type, learning English becomes a mix of mindset + practice + self-discovery.

You learn faster, feel more confident, and finally enjoy the process.

That’s what my British experience is about: not just learning a language, but finding a way that feels natural to you.

Your First Step 🌟

Take 5 minutes today and ask yourself:

  • Do I usually jump into conversations, or do I wait until I feel ready?

  • Do I learn better with people, or when I study alone?

  • Do I prefer structure, or freedom?

Write your answers in your English journal.

These small reflections can already show you clues about your speaking type.
